Angus P. Pecoskie

Angus P. Pecoskie, 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at his country home near Sidney. He was born July 31, 1925 to the late Francis and Frances (Lipinski) Pecoskie in his familys log home on their farm in the Renfrew Valley near Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. He was one of twelve sisters Jean, Julia and Rosemarie of Canada; Mary, Stella, and Tessie are deceased; brothers Max, Frank, and Stanley of Canada; Phil and Tony are deceased. He was preceded in death by his first wife of over 50 years, the lovely Irish rose, Kathleen M. (ONeil) Pecoskie. In 2003, Angus hit the jackpot in Las Vegas when he married Patricia (Hecht) Pecoskie. She survives along with his daughter, Judith Anne (Warren) Shepherd of Sidney; son, Paul, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Patrick (Jordan) Shepherd of Troy, Ohio and Bridget (Daniel McGinnis) Shepherd of Sidney and ten great-grandchildren, Quenton, Baylee, Kaiden, Dominic, Carson, Preston, Griffin, Kyla, Kingstin, and Audrey in Ohio, and numerous nieces/great nieces and nephews/great nephews in Canada. He attended a one-room school house and later went on to complete both high school and university courses. When applying to the Royal Canadian Air Force, tuberculosis (TB) was discovered. During his recovery at a sanatorium in London, Ontario, he was a popular hospital radio announcer and met his wife, Kathleen. Angus had a strong work ethic and started working early, at age 14, in a logging camp, and eventually worked in appliance manufacturing. He was recruited from Kelvinator of Canada to The Stolle Corporation in Sidney as their chief inspector, later as plant manager, and retired from their sales department. He and Kathleen ran A and K Sales and Service (business consulting) for several years after his retirement. Angus had been active in the St. Johns Ambulance Group (Canada), Civil Defense, Lung Association, and Red Cross, a member of the Eagles, Elks, and Moose, a parishioner of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney and was awarded as a Kentucky Colonel and to the Whos Who of Business Professionals. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Sodality in Canada and at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Although Angus loved people and traveling, his favorite times were spent working and entertaining at his country home. His warm smile, strong laugh, and engaging stories and conversation will be missed by his immediate and extended family, friends, and all who knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Amberger. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 1-3 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
