Carolyn Marie Spangler, 91, Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney, Ohio died at the retirement community on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 1:38 AM. She was born April 26, 1913 in Kettlersville, Ohio the daughter of Edward H. and Carrie A. (Roettger) Maurer. She was married to C. James Spangler in Covington, Kentucky in 1933 and he died in 1986. Surviving are eleven children, Carolyn Grossman and husband Tom of Sidney, Ohio; Marjorie Richards of Gulfport, Mississippi; James C. Spangler of Sidney, Ohio; Philip Spangler and wife Sue of Sidney, Ohio; John Spangler and wife Linda of Botkins, Ohio; Susan Fair and husband Don of Sidney, Ohio; Donald Spangler and wife Judy of Washington Court House, Ohio; Darrell Spangler and wife Faye of Sidney, Ohio; Henry Spangler and wife Ida of Sidney, Ohio; Edward Spangler of Sidney, Ohio; and Daniel Spangler and wife Susan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; forty four grandchildren, sixty two great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren. one grandchild is deceased; one sister is deceased; Surviving also are one sister, Dorothy Ely of Tampa, Florida and one brother, Philip Maurer and one sister-in-law, Mary Maurer of St. Mary's, Ohio. She was a 1931 graduate of Sidney High School and was a homemaker. She was involved in the Sidney High School Football Mom for twenty years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmom. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 10:00 Am at the Oliver and Peg Amos Chapel at the Dorothy Love Retirement Community, Sidney. Don Spangler will have the funeral service. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Friday, December 10, 2004 from 5-8 PM.
