Cathryn Egbert, 82, 9999 State Route 274, Anna, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 10, 2011, at her home. Cathryn was born April 4, 1929 in Manchester, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carl Lee Black and Virgie Lee (Stricklet) Black. On November 22, 1947 she married Kenten H. Egbert and he survives. She is also survived by four children, Michael (Melanie) Egbert of Botkins, Harry (Becky) Egbert of Anna, and Jason (Jodi) Egbert of Troy, and daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Beaty of Piqua; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and a son-in-law, Gary Geuy and wife Pattie of St. Paris, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teri Cathryn Geuy. Also survivived by her brother, Carl (Doris) Black of Dallas, Georgia; sisters, Sharon (Kenneth) Curtis of Sidney, Janie DeVelvis of Clemont, Florida, Ruth (John) Hosack of Sidney and Rachael (Dave) Hampton of St. Paris, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Clack of Lewisburg, Ohio, brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Ruth Egbert of Vandalia, and brother-in-law, Paul Brockman of Findlay. Cathryn was a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Sidney, where she served faithfully as nursery coordinator for many years, and as a Sunday school teacher. She was also active in the Gideon Auxiliary, serving in Bible distribution, jail ministry, and as camp officer. Cathryn was also active in the Chaplain's Auxiliary at Wilson Memorial Hospital. Cathryn was a 1947 graduate of Anna High School and a homemaker, a loving and helpful Christian mother, grandmother and wife. She lived her life to serve others and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home, 502 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio with the visitation from 9:30 AM until the time of service with Pastor Harry Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 4-7 PM.
