Charles Frank Wray Sr., 81, of Heartland of Piqua, Piqua, Ohio formerly of Sidney, Ohio died at the nursing home on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at 4:45 PM. He was born February 23, 1922 in Galapolis, Ohio the son of Charles and Edith (Jordon) Wray. On Jan. 12, 1952, he married Theresa Knob who died August 5, 1996. He is survived by two sons, Charles Wray Jr. of Sidney, Ohio and his wife Peg and Tom Wray and his wife of Piqua; three daughters, Shirley Windsor and husband Robert of Ocala, Florida; Sandra Garrett and husband William of Middle Burg, Florida and Sherry Ourden and husband Robert of Orange Park, Florida; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jim Wray of Troy. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanenda Alexander and Thelma Studabaker. Mr. Wray was a graduate of Troy High School. He was retired from Piqua Country Club as a manager. He also worked at Baumfolder Corp. at one time. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II when he served in the Pacific Theatre as part of the 176th Infantry. He was a member of the Sidney VFW, AMVETS, member of the Country Club Association and had received an honorary commission from the Highway Patrol. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Gerald Bensman officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Ohio with full military honors. Calling hours are on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 from 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Heartland, 275 Kienle Drive, Piqua, Ohio 45356 and envelopes are also available at the funeral home.
