Clifford J. Phillis, 82, 306 Dorman Dr., Sidney, Ohio died at Wilson Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 8:56 PM. He was born on April 6, 1927 in Troy, Ohio the son of Carl R. and Mary Belle (Forman) Phillis and they are deceased. He was married on December 18, 1946 to Laura Davis and she survives along with two sons, Gary Phillis of Sidney and Larry Phillis of Minster, Ohio and one daughter-in-law, Beverly Phillis; two sisters, Carolyn Ellis of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Charlene Thompson and husband Judd II of Pleasant Hill, Ohio and one brother, Carl D. Phillis of Troy, Ohio and two sister-in-laws, Margaret Phillis and Catherine Phillis. Also survived by grandchildren, Catrina Phillis and fianc Tom Spurgeon; Brian Phillis and daughter-in-law, Misty and Melanie Hasty and Jodie Cassady and great-grandchildren, Caleigh Ferree, Damion Phillis, Trenton Hughes, Taylor Russell and Tarrynn Russell and also survived by his beloved dog, Wagner. Three brothers, Clayton, Charles and Cecil Phillis and one sister Anne are deceased. Mr. Phillis attended Hardin-Houston schools and had a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. He had worked at Wagner's in Sidney for 38 years as a foreman. He was a United States Navy veteran and was a member of the Sidney American Legion and had been a member of the Moose in Sidney at one time. He loved to garden, bowl, golf, and all other sports and liked to fish and John Deere tractors. Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Beechwood Cemetery in Lockington with Robert Bumgarner and with full military honors. There are no calling hours.
