Daniel P. Schulze, 68, 17322 St. Rt. 47, Sidney, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 3:00 PM. He was born January 19, 1947 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Elmer A. and Loretta A. (Geise) Schulze and they are deceased. He is survived by two sisters, Barbara Schlater of Defiance, Ohio and Diane Kloeppel and husband Tom of Sidney, Ohio, a brother, Robert Schulze of Kansas City, Kansas and a sister-in-law, Diane Schulze of Vandalia, Ohio. He is also survived by twenty nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Two brothers, Melvin Schulze and Don Schulze and a sister, Mary Jane McCoy and two sister-in-laws, Pat Schulze and Bev Schulze and two brother-in-laws, Paul Schlater and Richard McCoy are deceased. Mr. Schulze was a 1965 graduate of Holy Angels School. He was the owner of the Rivers Edge Bar in Sidney and past owner of the DP Land and Sea store in Sidney. He was a wounded Vietnam War veteran and was awarded three Purple Hearts and numerous medals of honor for his service. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Knights of Columbus in Sidney. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCartyville, Ohio with Father John Tonkin. Full military honors will follow the mass. Private burial services will be held at a later date. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vietman Wall and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
