David A. Spence

David Allen Spence, age 70, of Sidney, passed away on October 21, 2024, at his home. David was born on August 28, 1954 to the late Homer and Rose (Liess) Spence, in Shelby County, Ohio.

David is survived by his sister - Ellen (John) May, and brothers - Steven Spence, and Walter (Yvonne) Spence, as well as five nieces, two nephews, two great nieces, and six great nephews.

Mr. Spence was a graduate of Sidney High School, and then later graduated from Urbana University, where he thrived on studying history, and helping on the sidelines for several different sporting events.

After graduation, David spent several years as an educator and later retired from LeROI in Sidney.

Towards the end of David's life, he enjoyed reflecting back to his fondest days at Urbana University where he met wonderful great people that turned into lifelong friendships. He spent countless hours attending girls sporting events throughout Shelby County where he not only encouraged them to do their best, but also worked to recruit them for his beloved Urbana University.

David will be remembered for being an avid sports buff and fan. He would often be found spending several hours watching the Cincinnati Bengals, Ohio State, Cincinnati Reds, along with many other sporting teams and events. Throughout his life, David collected many jerseys of his favorite team players. May David rest in peace.

A visitation will be held on Monday - October 28, 2024, from 5-6PM at Salm - McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home, with a funeral service following at 6PM.
