Dennis C. Cook

Dennis C. (Duke) Cook, 78, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away on October 8, 2022, at Hospice of Miami County in Troy, Ohio. He was born November 22, 1943, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of William and Verneda (Baker) Cook.

Duke is survived by one sister Deanna Slife of Sidney, Ohio, two sister in laws Linda (Russell-deceased) Cook, Doris (Thomas-deceased) Cook, three nieces Mar-Shell Elliott, Amber Rojo, Lynn Cook, and four nephews Rick Cook, Dave Cook, Shawn (Robin) McCoy, and Bill (Kelly) Cook. Duke was preceded in death by both of his parents and one sister Jean McCoy and two brothers Russell and Thomas Cook.

Dennis attended Sidney High School. Following school, Duke was self-employed as a race car driver, and promotor for many years as well as a firestone tire sales guy for race cars. Duke was a member of the Eagles and the Moose in Sidney, Ohio. Duke enjoyed socializing with all the other race car drivers. Duke will be missed by many of the racing community especially his bestest buddy Jimmy Oskie who he enjoyed getting into different little escapades. Duke loved to race with his good friend Shane Carson, and his lifelong good racing buddy Jack Hewitt. Duke loved to take his dogs lady and Budro traveling with his anywhere he went. Duke was a legend in his own mind.

In keeping with Denniss wishes, he will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held November 20, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Salm-McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home with Pastor James Oates. Family will receive friend from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left for the Cook family at www.salm-mcgillandtangemanfh.com.
