Dr. Raul E. Tramontana

Dr. Raul E. Tramontana, 81, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 7:30 PM at the Loveland Health Care Center, Loveland, Ohio. Dr. Tramontana was formerly of Sidney. He was born June 6, 1931 in Lima, Peru the son of Jorge and Raquel (Monge) Tramontana and they preceded him in death. He was married to Elizabeth 'Betsy' Palmer on January 5, 1962 and she passed in January of 2008. Surviving are five children, Elizabeth Schwinkendorf of Westlake, Ohio, Raquel Martin and husband Kevin of Sidney, Ohio, Patricia Mann of Mason, Ohio, David Tramontana and wife Cindy of Indian Hill, Ohio, Tony Tramontana and wife Maria of Katy, Texas and a daughter-in-law, Pam Tramontana of Tennessee and 19 grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Mercedes Tramontana of Lima, Peru and two brothers, Jorge and Antonio Tramontana of Lima, Peru. A son, Raul Jr., a sister, Martha Tramontana and two brothers, Louis, and Oscar Tramontana preceded him in death. Dr. Tramontana went to Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York and served his residency there also. He was a medical doctor and surgeon in Sidney for many years. He served in the Peruvian military as a physician also. He was the team doctor for Sidney High School basketball and football for many years. He also campaigned for Sidney City Schools for the removal of asbestos for the school. He was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Sidney. Friends may call on Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 1-3 PM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home, Sidney. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Eileen Hix officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Miami Valley Chapter, 3797 Summit Glen Dr., Suite G100, Dayton, Ohio 45449. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
