Dwight E. Masters

Dwight E. Masters, 73, 306 Cherokee Dr., Sidney, Ohio died at Arthur James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, Ohio on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 11:41 AM. He was born October 7, 1930 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio the son of Ora and Myrtle (Kotterman) Masters and they are deceased. He moved to Sidney in 1967 from Zoarville, Ohio. He had been previously married to Ruthann Newland on June 21, 1953 and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Kathryn Booher and her husband Dr. Gregory Booher of Troy, Ohio and Douglas Masters of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren, Blaine, Kyla and Braydon Booher and one step-granddaughter, Ambrosia Barker. six brothers, David Masters and his wife Judy of Gahanna, Ohio; Richard and his wife Darlene of Perrysville, Ohio; Daniel and his wife Marilyn of Delaware, Ohio; Merle of Delaware, Ohio; Alvin and his wife Jean of Ashley, Ohio; and Warren and his wife Shirley of Sunbury, Ohio; One son, Dwight Douglas and one brother, Allen Masters are deceased. He was an Ohio State University graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and received his teaching degree from Kent State University and a Masters Degree from the University of Dayton for business education. He was in the Sunset Sidney Kiwanis Club, area representative for the Youth For Understanding Program for 31 years; a member of the Sidney First United Methodist Church where he was an usher and a member of the Methodist Men's Club. He was in the Retired Teachers Association of Shelby County, the Shelby County Historical Society and an OSU Buckeye fan. He touched lives all over the world with his foreign exchange student program. He retired from Sidney High School as a business teacher and was currently a professor at Edison State College, Piqua, Ohio for word processing. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the Sidney First United Methodist Church with Dr. Chris Heckaman and Rev. Barbara Staley. Friends may also call at the church one half hour before the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Ashley Union Cemetery, Ashley, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 from 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dwight E. Masters Business Scholarship Fund or the Youth For Understanding Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
