Edward R. Spangler

Edward Roettger Spangler, 69, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away attended by his daughter and niece Kathy on Saturday, November 27th, 2021, at Sidney Care Center in Sidney, Ohio. He was born on December 26th, 1951, in Sidney, Ohio, the tenth child of Christopher James and Carolyn (Maurer) Spangler, who are deceased.

Edward is survived by his children, Amber (Keith) Freisthler, Franny (Ben) Arnett, Matthew (Jenny) Spangler, and Trent Spangler all of Sidney, Ohio; and his brothers and sisters Carolyn (Spangler) Grossman, Phillip (Sue) Spangler, Susan (Don) Fair, Donald (Judy) Spangler, Darrell (Faye) Spangler, and Daniel (Susan) Spangler; and sisters-in-law Linda Spangler and Ida Spangler; along with nine grandchildren, and one great grandchildren. Eddie was preceded in death by both his parents, one sister Marjorie Richards, three brothers James, John, and Henry (Hank) Spangler and brother-in-law Thomas Grossman.

Eddie graduated from Sidney High School class of 1970 and was an integral part of the 30-0 SHS football team. Eddie worked as a truck driver before he retired and after serving in the United States Air Force. Eddies trademark smile made him special to his many friends. Eddie loved watching all sports, but his passion was football especially the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed time with his brothers and sisters and had a special bond with his niece Kathy Schroer-Lambert.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 9th, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Salm-McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe LeMaster. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney, Ohio on Thursday from 10:30 AM until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or the Spangler Family to be donated to Sidney Care Center. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice and Sidney Care Center for all their help and care of Eddie.
