Elvin L. Stooksbury, 75, of Sidney, Ohio passed away on July 9, 2023, at Shelby Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Sidney, Ohio. He was born February 17, 1948 in Duff, Tennessee, the son of Elvin Stooksbury Sr. and Ruth (Milton) Douglas.

Elvin is survived by his significant other Delores Blankenship and his children, David (Melissa) Stooksbury, Derrick (Lorie) Stooksbury, Joseph Stooksbury, and Chelsie Blankenship, eighteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one sister Ruth Swiger and half-brother Huwillber Douglas. Elvin was preceded in death by both his parents, Elvin Stooksbury Sr. and Ruth (Milton) Douglas, and two sisters Debra Fitzgerald, and Glenna Fogt.

Elvin graduated from Wynn High School in 1967. Following high school, Elvin worked at Spring Creek driving truck for forty years before he retired. After retirement Elvin went to work helping at the American Legion as a bartender and cook.

In addition to all Elvins work, he enjoyed cooking, wrestling, playing cards, going to the American Legion, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, all his grandchildren, family, and friends.

He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In keeping with Elvins wishes, he will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life for Elvin will be held July 17, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the American Legion in Sidney, Ohio. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.salm-mcgillandtangemanfh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sidney American Legion in remembrance of Elvin. Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home is honored to be taking care of Elvins family.
