Jean E. Barhorst

Jean E. Barhorst, 90, of Sidney, Ohio, was called home to heaven on June 10, 2022, at Ohio Living Dorothy Love in Sidney, Ohio. She was born October 16, 1931, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Leonard and Emma (Muehleisen) Cox, who are deceased.

On September 2, 1950 Jean married Vernon H. Barhorst who passed away on December 26, 1991. Jean is survived by her two children Carolyn (Randy) Robbins, and David (Linda) Barhorst both of Sidney, Ohio, four grandchildren Melissa (Nick) Johnston of Piqua, Ohio; Todd (Sarah) Barhorst of Beavercreek, Ohio; Daniel Barhorst (deceased) and Kimberly (Luke Hoying) Barhorst of Fort Loramie, Ohio, along with eleven great-grandchildren. Jean is preceded in death by her husband Vernon, both her parents, and six siblings Mildred (Walter) Elsner, Helen (Lester) Hefflinger, Viola (Arther) Kopp, Opal (Laurence) (Woody) Wooddell, Virginia (Laurence) Strunk, and Edward (Ruthann) Cox.

Jean graduated from Sidney High school class of 1949. Jean worked for Amos Press for 28 years before she retired in 1991. Jean was a member of Holy Angles Catholic Church where she was a member of the Alter Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Amos Press Retirement Club. Jean loved to clean her house, traveling, but most of all she enjoyed watching her grandchildren, great grandchildren play sports, and spend time with her family. Jean will be missed by many.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Aaron Hess. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 6-8 PM. Online condolences may be left for the Barhorst family at www.salm-mcgillandtangemanfh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charity of Ones Choice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses, aids, and staff at Dorothy Love along with Miami County Hospice for all their help and care with Jean.
