Jerald W. Kauffman

Jerald W. Kauffman, 84, of Centerville, Ohio formerly of Sidney, Ohio, was called home to heaven on July 12, 2022, at Randall Residence in Centerville, Ohio. He was born January 15, 1938, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Willard and Twilah (Lott) Kauffman.

Jerry is survived by his two sons Michael (Donna) Kauffman of Springboro, Ohio and Matthew Kauffman of British Columbia, Canada, one brother James (Dixie) Kauffman, and four grandchildren Jared, Jessica, Jackson, Olivia Kauffman and former wife Donna (McCullough) Kauffman. Jerry was preceded in death by both his parents.

Jerry graduated from Sidney High School, class of 1955 and was a proud member of the band & golf team. He attended Purdue University and later University of Findlay receiving engineering degrees from both. Following graduation, Jerry briefly served in the United States Air Force where he enjoyed his time as a trombone player in a dance band touring Europe. Jerry worked at British Petroleum for 23 years before retiring. In his retirement, Jerry was a substitute teacher, a Cub Scout leader, involved in the community and for the last 20 years proudly served at the First Presbyterian Church in Sidney. Jerry was a previous member of the Sidney City Council. Jerry loved to vacation at the Outer Banks, fishing with his boys, Ohio State Football and working outside in the garden. His greatest passion was being with his black labs and taking them on walks in the park or through the neighborhood.

In keeping with Jerrys wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held Friday August 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Sidney, Ohio, with Pastor Carol Pierson. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Sidney, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shelby County Humane Society or Bella Care Hospice of Dayton. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses, aides, and staff at Randall Residence, along with Bella Care Hospice for all their help and care with Jerry.
