Joseph G. Thaman

Joseph G. Thaman, 88, Sidney, Ohio, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Hospice of Miami County. Mr. Thaman was born on December 20, 1928 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Richard and Mary (Halpin) Thaman and they are deceased. On August 17, 1957, he married Judith A. Francis and she survives in Sidney. They were married for 60 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Ann (Jerome) Rodenfels of Centerville, Ohio, two sons, Richard Thaman of Sidney, Ohio and Tony Thaman of Denver, Colorado and his grandchildren, Abigail (John) Neuman of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Taylor Rodenfels of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Andrea Rodenfels of Danvilee, Kentucky and Noah Rodenfels of Centerville, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Helmlinger and was preceded in death by a son, Joseph A. Thaman, sisters, Eleanor Kinsella, mary Raterman, Helen Myers and Catherine Thaman and three brothers, Edward Thaman, Richard Thaman and Louis Thaman. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a proud member of the American Legion Post in Sidney. He was a member of the Singing Soldiers group for over 50 years. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a lifelong member of the church choir. He was an avid restorer of antique wicker furniture. He was retired from the Copeland Corporation in Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 5-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney with Father Peter Langenkamp. Burial will follow with full military honors at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County or the Imagination Library Fund at Amos Memorial Public Library, Sidney, Ohio in Joseph Thaman's name.
