Joseph Leroy Monnin

Joseph Leroy Monnin, 81, 407 Riverside Dr., Sidney, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 7:40 AM after a short illness. He was born March 19, 1933 in Russia, Ohio, the son of Felix and Agnes (Francis) Monnin and they are deceased. He was married to Connie Carroll on October 4, 1958 and she survives in Sidney along with three daughters, Jane Monnin of Sidney, Caroline Clark of Arcanum, Ohio and Jackie Monnin of Fort Loramie, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Natasha Wysong, Nicole Perry and husband Johnny, Nicholas Monnin, Natalie Monnin, Whitney Mumpower and husband Nick, Brandi Clark, Stevie Smith and husband Ben and Dean Ratliff, seven great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters; four sisters, Loretta Bey of Versailles, Ohio, Bertha McEldowney of New Bremen, Ohio, Eleanor Grillot of Webster, Ohio and Mary Curtin of Chicago, Illinois. A son, Tim Monnin, two sisters and five brothers are deceased. Mr. Monnin attended and graduated from St. Ritas School for the Deaf in Cincinnati, Ohio. He had worked for Amos Press in the linotype department for 42 years. He was a member of the Cincinnati Deaf Club, loved the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, raced go-carts and was a handyman. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Amberger. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 4-7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ritas School for the Deaf, 1720 Glendale Milford Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45215. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
