Joseph Owen Mcgill

Joseph O. McGill, 77, Sidney, Ohio, died unexpectedly on Mother's Day, May 13, 2018 at 6:55 AM of cardiac arrest after a heart catherization at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, Ohio. He was born on February 8, 1941 to Joseph O. McGill Sr. and Mary E. (Moloney) McGill and they are deceased. On May 5, 1962 he married Judith Suzanne (Salm) McGill who survives. When seeing him for the first time at the opposite end of the hall at Lehman High School she said 'he will make a perfect father for my children.' They recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. Joe graduated from Lehman High School in 1959. He was a highly skilled machinist for most of his life. He had worked with his father-in-law, William Salm and later his son, Douglas McGill at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home from 1983 to 1988. He then used his exceptional machinist skills with A&B machine until he joined Honda of America in 1995. Joe retired from Honda of America in 2005 after10 years of service. Joe loved sailing, guns, good food and above all else his wife and family. He is survived by four children, Douglas Wm. McGill, Sidney, Ohio, Sharon L. McGill, Sidney, Ohio, Brian J. McGill, Minster, Ohio and Sean (Amy) P. McGill of Sidney, Ohio; four grandchildren, Anthony McGill of Bowling Green, Ohio, Ryan McGill, Mya McGill and Jack McGill of Sidney, Ohio. He was a devout life long member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney, Ohio where he was a Eucharistic Minister as well as a home Eucharistic Distributor. He was a member of the Sidney Knights of Columbus and the Shelby County Deer Hunter's Association. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Peter Langenkamp. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 6-8 PM. A Knights of Columbus service will be at 7:45 PM.
