Lee A. "Woody" Woodruff, 86 of Sidney, passed away in comfort and peace on February 10, 2025 at 5:55 AM at Ohio's Hospice of Miami Valley, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 22, 1938, to the late Marvin and Willa (Whited) Woodruff of Sidney. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Woodruff whom he married March 29, 1988 and by his sons Jeff (Lisa) McCullough of Huntsville, OH and by Todd (Yvonne) McCullough of Fishers, IN. Also surviving are his grandchildren Tyler (Jenn) McCullough of Findlay, OH and Meghan (Dom) Richert, and Jacob McCullough both of Greenwood, IN. He is also survived by grandchildren Andy (Crystal) Nelson of Powell, OH and Erin (Chris) Stafford of West Liberty, OH as well as Kylie (Casey) Sobecks of Fishers, IN and Noah McWhirter of Chicago, IL.

Woody’s great-grandchildren include Leo, Elijah, and Augustine Richert, Bailey and Matthew Stafford, Aiden and Jacoby Nelson, and Violet and Cove Sobecks. 

 Also surviving is Ray G. (GraceAnne) Woodruff and Jacqueline (Donald) Nuss. Woody’s sister-in-law Faye (Darrell) Spangler also mourns his loss, as does, brother-in-law Kevin (Mimi) Sullivan. Kristin (Matt) Spangler Willman, Chloe, Brady, Evie of Miamisburg, OH. Brooke (Chad) Spangler Gessler, Nolan and Gabriel of Sidney, OH. Jason (Sarah) Jonathan, Katherine, Emily and Christopher Nuss of Huntsville, AL. Andrew (Monika), Jack and Amyra Nuss of Reno, NV. Greg Woodruff of Long Beach, CA.

 Woody graduated from Sidney High School in 1956 where he played football. His early working career was with his father and grandfather at Woodruff Tire here in Sidney until 1979. He later worked with Grismer Tire in Dayton, OH and the Ford Parts Department in Sidney, OH. In 1980 he began the job, where he touched the lives of many school personnel, when he became the Maintenance Director for Sidney City Schools until his retirement in 2004.

 Woody also was active in his community through volunteer work to help raise funds for the present YMCA Structure, as well as, being a long time coach of the IUTIS Baseball teams. In his later years, he volunteered many hours to the Shelby County Historical Society where he was named a Volunteer of the Year in 2021. He was a member of the Stokes Masonic Lodge, The American Legion, and a 50 year member of the Sidney Moose Lodge. He was also a member of the Indian Lake Community Church. His family and friends have been the highlight of his life. Through the years he had a passion for playing golf at the Moose Club for 50 years. He enjoyed playing with his buddies Phil Spangler, Gary Paul, Larry Rogers, and Darrell Spangler on a self-named team “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere”. He also enjoyed playing on a traveling team out of Shelby Oaks Club with Gary Paul, Dwight Wilges, and Orrin Tucker.

 For many years, Kathie and Woody traveled south, first to Daytona Beach Shores, where they were often accompanied by family groups. Later they traveled to Myrtle Beach, which soon became their favorite winter spot. They enjoyed the company of good friends Shelby and LeEtta Warren, Mike and Dottie Mullen, and Chuck and Gail Knouff while at Myrtle Beach.

 A Celebration of Life will take place on Lee's birthday - March 22, 2025, at the Sidney Moose Lodge, from 1PM - 4PM. The Woodruff Family would like to extend an appreciation to Dr. Joseph Levelle, and the staff at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County.
