Mabel Marie Smith

Mabel Marie Smith, 77, Fair Haven Shelby County Home, 2901 Fair Rd., Sidney, Ohio died at the nursing home on Friday, June 24, 2005 at 11:30 PM. She was born July 9, 1927 in Sidney, Ohio the daughter of Omer Clark and Lora (Bedford) Bowden and they are deceased. She was married in Holy Angels Catholic Church on June 26, 1948 to Charles Michael Smith and he died June 13, 1965. Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Phlipot and husband Ron of Mardela Springs, Maryland and Susan Hughes and fiance Paul Gilkes of Sidney, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jill McNeeley, Matt Phlipot and Ryan Hughes; three sisters, Arlene and husband Vanus Falke of Sidney, Ohio; Carol Bodenmiller and husband Don of Sidney, Ohio and Kay Jackson of Piqua, Ohio and brother, Omer Bud Bowden and wife Sue of Leesburg, Florida and two sister-in-laws, Maxine Bowden of Sidney, Ohio and Terry Bowden of Fairborn, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Three brothers are deceased, Gene, Clay and Elwood Bowden. She was a 1945 graduate of Sidney High School. She had been a clerk at Uhlmans and Stage Department Stores for 29 years and retired in 1996. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 10:00 AM at Graceland Cemetery.
