Martha Jane Purkey, 92, Dorothy Love Retirement Community, 3003 W. Cisco Rd., Sidney, Ohio formerly of Hamilton, Ohio died at the nursing home on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at 10:35 PM. She was born June 21, 1913 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky the daughter of James and Arlena (Turner) Mobley. She moved to Sidney in September 1994 from Hamilton, Ohio. She was married June 15, 1934 to Elmer Purkey and he died in 1966. Surviving are three children, Rev. Donald R. Purkey and wife Carol Ann of Portland, Oregon; Judy Ann Jameson and husband Bob of Sidney, Ohio; and Doug Purkey and wife Regina of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Stephen Purkey, David Purkey and wife Dawn, Andrew Purkey and wife Julie; Ann Naffziger and husband Jack; Rob Jameson and wife Shirley; Laura Jameson; Amy McGill and husband Sean; Matthew Purkey and wife Jenny and Brian Purkey; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Betty Landi of Hamilton, Ohio. Nine brothers and sisters and one son, Gary Lee are deceased. She was active in her church, Princeton Pike Church of God, Hamilton, Ohio and had attended the Russell Road Christian Center, Sidney, Ohio. She was a homemaker and formerly was employed as a cook at Champion Paper Company. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Donald R. Purkey, her son, at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the hour of service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Russell Road Christian Center, 340 W. Russell Rd., Sidney, Ohio 45365 or the charity of one's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
