Mary Catherine Sherman

Mary C. Sherman, 81, 131 W. Ruth St., Sidney, Ohio, went to be with the Lord at Fair Haven Nursing Home of Shelby County on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 at 1:34 AM after suffering a heart attack. She was born October 29, 1943 in Sidney, Ohio the daughter of Frank and Marie (Kerber) Sextro and they are deceased. She graduated from Holy Angels Catholic High School in 1961 where she met her soulmate, Michael Sherman and later married in 1964. She worked for the County Auditor’s Office for 30 years and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, going to church, and attending her great-grand children’s activities. Later in life she enjoyed going out to dinner at her favorite restaurants, Cracker Barrel, Red Lobster and the Olive Garden. But her great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Spending time with them was the highlight of her day. Mary is survived by her two children, Dean Sherman and fiancé, Kathy Middleton of Sidney, Ohio; Melissa Sherman of Williamsburg, Ohio, Anita Bechmann (who was like an adopted daughter to her) of Williamsburg, Ohio; brother in-law, Tony Sherman and his wife Debby of Maplewood, Ohio; brother-in-law, Robert Wendeln; two grandchildren, Debbie Stone and husband Ben; Leah Sloan and husband Josh; and seven great-grandchildren, Jayden, Joseph, J'Sienna, Emily, Gabriel, Jozee and Olivia. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all. One brother, Joseph Sextro preceded her in death and has awaited Mary’s arrival in heaven. Mary and her husband Michael Sherman (deceased) are together again with God. A special thank-you to the nursing staff at Fair Haven County Home for their loving care and support. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home - Sidney, on Monday, December 16th, 2024 from 9-10:30 AM. A Catholic mass will immediately follow at 11:00 AM, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, with Father Andrew Reckers. Burial will be at a later date.
