Michael G. Sherman

Michael G. Sherman, 75, 131 W. Ruth St., Sidney, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Ohio's Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 9:30 AM after suffering a massive stroke. He was born February 7, 1942 in Sidney, Ohio the son of Eugene and Helen (Umstead) Sherman and they are deceased. He graduated from Holy Angles Catholic High School in 1960 where he met his beautiful bride, Mary Sherman and later married in 1964. He worked for the Stolle Corporation for over 35 years and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Michael enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing and gardening. Later in life he developed a passion and talent for designing and making his own fishing baits. He especially enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Sextro) Shermon of 53 years along with children, Dean Sherman fiance, Kathy Middleton of Sidney, Ohio; Melissa Sherman of Williamsburg, Ohio, Anita Bechmann (who was like a daughter to him) of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Tony Sherman and wife Debby of Maplewood, Ohio; brother-in-law, Robert Wendeln; two grandchildren, Debbie Stone and husband Ben; Leah Sloan and husband Josh; and five great-grandchildren, Jayden, Joseph, J'Sienna, Emily and Jozee and great step grandson, Gabriel. Micahel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all. Two sisters, Linda Sherman and Sherrel Wendeln preceded him in death and have awaited Mike's arrival. A special thank-you to Ohio Hospice of Miami County for their loving care and support. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 6-7 PM. A Catholic memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Peter Langenkamp. Burial will be at a later date.
