Patricia J. Wood, 88, died at the Pavilion Nursing Home in Sidney, Ohio on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM. She was born December 17, 1921 in Sidney, Ohio the daughter of Albert and Effie (Quillen) Umstead and they are deceased. She was married to Thomas R. Wood Sr. on April 13, 1940 and he is deceased. Surviving are eight children, Nancy (Roger) Flees of Bowling Brook, Illinois; William (Jill) Wood of Mansfield, Ohio; Peggy Wood of Columbus, Ohio; Daniel (Mary Ann) Wood of Indianapolis, Indiana; Deb (John) Mentges of Anna, Ohio; Barbara (David Gavin) Ferree of Sidney, Ohio; David (Sally) Wood of Sidney, Ohio and Amy Wildermuth of Sidney, Ohio; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren also survive. One son, Thomas R. Wood Jr., one sister, Dorothy Johnson and two brothers, Harold Umstead and Floyd 'Bud' Umstead are deceased. She was a graduate of Sidney High School and had worked at the Shelby County Health Foundation at one time and also at Lehman High School for seventeen years as a cook. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society at the church; past president of the Widow and Widowers Club and a volunteer at the FISH organization in Sidney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney with Rev. Dan Schmitmeyer. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney on Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 4-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Attention: Lu Ann Presser, 3003 W. Cisco Rd., Sidney, Ohio 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
