Phyllis Jane Scheu

Phyllis Jane Scheu, 90, died on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 1:05 AM at Dorothy Love Retirement Community, 3003 W. Cisco Road, Sidney, Ohio. She was formerly of Dayton, Ohio and Tampa, Florida. She was born on February 25, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio the daughter of John and Esther (Thiele) Hash and they are deceased. She was a 1937 graduate of Fairview High School in Dayton, Ohio and a 1941 graduate of Ohio Weselyn University. She was married on July 25, 1942 at the Fairview EUB Church in Dayton, Ohio to Richard Scheu and he died in 1985. Surviving are one son, John Scheu and wife Cindy of Sidney, Ohio and one daughter, Penny Scheu of Dayton, Ohio and one sister, Marilyn Coburn and husband Russ of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren, Todd and wife Barbie Burns; Carey and husband Rob Gerster; Ryan and wife Caren Burns; Emily Hoying; Allison and husband Kris Zajac and Scott Scheu and nine great grandchildren. She taught in the Dayton Public Schools as a hearing impaired teacher for many years and retired in 1980. She taught dramatics, speech and piano lessons in Dayton for many years. She did volunteer work at the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Tampa, Florida for 25 years. She was an avid tennis player. She was in the Eastern Star and the Tri-Delt Sorority. She liked to entertain friends with stories and play the piano at Dorothy Love Retirement Community. She had been a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ in Dayton for 50 years. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Glen Haven Cemetery in Donnellsville, Ohio. There are no calling hours.
