Robert Charles Bender

Robert Charles Bender, 75, Green Hills, West Liberty, Ohio, passed away at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 6:42 PM from congestive heart failure. He was born September 18, 1938 in Newport, Ohio, the son of Aloysis and Clara (Francis) Bender and they are deceased. He was married to Susan Elizabeth Brinkman on August 30, 1975 and she survives in West Liberty, Ohio along with two sons, Robert Bender and wife Christina of Bellefontaine, Ohio and Mark Bender of Sidney, Ohio; three sisters, Carol Meyer of Sidney, Ohio, Phyllis DeVelvis and husband Tom of Sidney, Ohio and Kathy Martin and husband Larry of Sidney, Ohio; five brothers, Leo Bender and wife Nancy of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, Louis Bender and wife Diane of Uniopolis, Ohio, Tom Bender and wife Donna of Sidney, Ohio, Carl (Gene) Bender and wife Jeanette of Sidney, Ohio and Gerry Bender of Fort Loramie, Ohio. Two sisters are deceased, Susan Bender and Rose Billing. Also surviving are five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece. Mr. Bender was retired from Benders Auto Electric in Sidney. He was a member of the Knights of St. John in Fort Loramie, Ohio and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney with Rev. Dan Schmitmeyer. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 6-8 PM and on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 9-10 AM. Robert Bender, the son of Mr. Bender, will have a prayer service on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 7:45 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365 or St. Ritas School for the Deaf, 1720 Glendale-Milford Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45215. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
