Robert James Stone

Robert James Stone, 88, 721 Fisk St., Piqua, Ohio formerly of Sidney, Ohio died at his residence in Piqua on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 7:45 AM. He was born July 13, 1921 in Bucyrus, Ohio the son of Harvey G. and Grace (Barth) Stone and they are deceased. He was married to Elizabeth Ann Bowman in 1942 and she died on May 11, 1992. He is survived by his life partner of sixteen years, Irene Fair of Piqua and two children, Mrs. Tom (Jeanne) Ceyler of Anna, Ohio and Robert James Stone II and wife Shirley of Sidney and one sister, Mrs. Robert (Norma) Whitmeyer of Bucyrus, Ohio; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was a 1939 graduate of Bucyrus High School in Bucyrus, Ohio. He had worked at the Eisley Dairy and Omar Bakery in Sidney and retired from Stolle Corporation in 1984 as a foreman. He was a member of the Piqua Eagles and loved to work in the flower beds and also loved to read. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney with Rev. Angelo Caserta and friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Angels Endowment Fund, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365 and envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
