Ronald E. Hill, 79, 511 Charles Ave., Sidney, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 4:10 PM at the Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio of a massive stroke. He was born February 18, 1935 in Sidney, Ohio, the son of Ralph E. and Claudine (Billing) Hill and they are deceased. He was married to Alma Herzog on September 7, 1957 and she survives in Sidney along with two children, Jennifer Voehringer and husband Gary of Waynesville, Ohio and Greg Hill and wife Jodi of Worthington, Ohio and six grandchildren. One sister, Barb Rhodes, one brother, Richard Hill and one grandson are deceased. Mr. Hill was a 1953 graduate of Sidney High School and a 1955 graduate of Valparaiso Technical School in Valparaiso, Indiana. He was retired from Krogers after 40 years. He loved to fish, do woodworking, was on the church council and an usher at St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Sidney where he was a member, past President of the Sidney/Shelby County Senior Citizens and volunteer of the year for two years, member of the Civil Defense, Boy Scouts, IUTUS and Vintcars. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney with Rev. Joe Pumphrey. Burial will follow at Pearl Cemetery, Swanders, Ohio. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 1-3 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
