Ruth Mary Dressman

Ruth Mary (Raterman) Dressman, 101, passed away at the Fair Haven Shelby County Home in Sidney, Ohio on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 5:52 AM. She was born July 17, 1913 in Fort Loramie, Ohio, the daughter of George and Jane (Barga) Raterman and they preceded her in death. She was raised in Fort Loramie and graduated from Minster High School. She was married to Richard Dressman on June 20, 1936 and he passed away on December 5, 1966. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Watercutter and husband Bud of McCartyville, Ohio and Sylvia Warfield and husband Fred of Sidney, Ohio; two daughter-in-laws, Doris Dressman of Phoenix, Arizona and Georgina Dressman of Sidney, Ohio; a sister, Jeanette Giere and her husband, Edmond, of Maria Stein, Ohio; twenty grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Two sons, Dick Dressman and Joe Dressman, a daughter, Martha Watkins and son-in-law, Gene Watkins and daughter, Ruth Ann Longbrake and a son-in-law, Roy Longbrake, four sisters, Marie Meinerding, Mary Wyen, Dorothy Berning and Edna Raterman and three brothers, Ralph, Alvin and George Raterman and one grandson are deceased. She enjoyed cooking and sewing for her family. She crocheted afghans for her children and grandchildren. She had worked at Murphys downtown at one time and also was a cook at the Parish House at Holy Angels. She was a member of the Shelby County Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where she had been a member of the Rosary Altar Sodality. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father John Tonkin. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 5-7 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Angels Soup Kitchen, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
