Sherrel L. Wendeln, 71, 2315 N. Broadway Ave., Sidney, Ohio passed away at her residence on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 7:24 AM after an extended illness. She was born February 15, 1943 in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of Eugene and Helen (Umstead) Sherman and they are deceased. She was married to Robert Wendeln on May 7, 1966 and he survives in Sidney along with two children, Angela Vecchio and husband Tony of Columbus, Ohio and Mark Wendeln of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Mike Sherman and wife Mary of Sidney, Ohio and Tony Sherman and wife Debbie of Maplewood, Ohio and three grandchildren, Nicolas and Carmyn Vecchio and Mary Wendeln. Mrs. Wendeln was a 1961 graduate of Holy Angels School in Sidney. She was a retired hairdresser who owned her own business, Northwood Beauty Shop, for 35 years. She loved her two little dogs, Katie and Lady and had a great passion and love for all kinds of flowers and butterflies. She loved working in the yard and maintaining all her flower beds. She spent many years up at her cottage in Michigan. She loved crossword puzzles. She and her sister, Linda, loved to shop and she was an avid collector of Christmas ornaments. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney. A Catholic memorial service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Schmitmeyer. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 6-8 PM.
