Vera M. Bell-Piper

Vera M. (Dowden) Bell-Piper, 95, of Sidney, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021 at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, Sidney, Ohio, at 11:40 AM. She was born on December 14th, 1925 in Maplewood, Ohio, the daughter of Noah and Lillie (Abbott) Dowden and they are deceased. She was married to Warren Yinger on May 31, 1944 and after his passing Vera married Donald Bell on August 5th, 1965, and later after his passing Vera married Neal Piper on June 25th, 2000 and they are all deceased. Vera is survived by one daughter Diane (Philip) Courter of Sidney, Ohio; one son Larry (Patty) Yinger of Sidney, Ohio; two stepchildren Jane (David) Stites of Sunbury, Ohio; Janet (Gary) Sorrell of Powell, Ohio; one sister Clarice Pence of Sidney, Ohio; five grandchildren Angela (Courter) Chambers, Jeff (Julie) Courter and Jason (Cathy) Courter, and Brad (Stacey) Yinger and Zach Yinger, and five step grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Along with her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Janice Davidson. Vera graduated from Sidney High School class of 1943. She worked for Stolle, and was a homemaker. Vera loved to spend time volunteering for the Senior Citizens Center, Wilson Memorial Hospital, Shelby Co. Blood Bank, Alpha Community Center, and the United Women Church group for many years. She loved being at Ohio Living Dorothy Love where she also volunteered the past four years. Vera was a very special person who had many, many friends and will be missed dearly. Aside from Veras passion for volunteering she loved spending time with her family. Vera was a woman of strong faith and witnessed her love for Jesus and believed strongly in the power of prayer. She was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church in Sidney.

In keeping Veras wishes she will be cremated and a graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 6 pm at Beechwood Cemetery, Lockington, Ohio. A memorial service will be held on August 22, 2021 at 2:30 PM at First United Methodist Church, Sidney, Ohio with Pastor David Chivington.
