William E. (Bill) Salm, 86, Dorothy Love Retirement Community, 3003 W. Cisco Rd., Sidney, Ohio died at the Dorothy Love retirement community on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 at 10:05 PM. He was born August 28, 1918 in Sidney, Ohio the son of Louis and Marie (Stolle) Salm. He married Monica E. Mumaw on January 2, 1941 and she died November 16, 1994. Surviving is one daughter, Judith S. McGill and husband Joe of Sidney, Ohio; four grandchildren, Doug McGill, Sharon McGill, Brian McGill and Sean McGill and two great-grandchildren, Anthony McGill and Ryan McGill all of Sidney Ohio. One brother, Robert Salm, and two sisters ,Eleanor Salm and Martha Schneider are deceased. He was a 1937 graduate of Holy Angels School and a 1939 graduate of the Cincinnnati College of Embalming. He had been a past board of directors of Peoples Federal Savings and Loan Bank in Sidney; past member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary, Moose, and a past usher and parish council member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. He was baptized, confirmed, married and a life member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney Ohio. He was a funeral director, owner and operator of the Salm and Wiley Funeral Home which is now Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at 10:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Bensman. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Sidney. Friends may call at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home on Friday, December 17, 2004 from 6-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Angels Endowment Fund, 324 S. Ohio Ave., Sidney, Ohio 45365. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
